The aim of Tartu's Walk of Pioneers is to acknowledge the people related to Tartu, who have given a remarkable contribution into the development, introduction or acknowledgement of the city of Tartu with their work or activities.
As the result of a public voting, footprints of a docent of the University of Tartu Mart Noorma, who supervised the EstCube-1 project, were added to the walk. Noorma collected a total of 1,200 votes in the public internet poll.
Rutt Hinrikus, a literature scientist and collector of biographies also pressed her footprint into the bronze. Hinrikus was chosen by a nine-member jury.
The Walk of Pioneers is located beside Tasku shopping centre in the centre of Tartu.
