As part of the ENLIGHT campaign Faces of ENLIGHT, members of the network who exemplify excellence in their professional achievements and personal attributes are being introduced over a three-year period. The University of Tartu is highlighting six individuals, the second of whom is Anette-Mai Pirk-Birk, Vice-Chair of the Student Council.
Anette-Mai Pirk-Birk has served on the board of the Student Council for two years and is one of the ENLIGHT representatives at the University of Tartu. Starting in autumn 2025, she will continue her academic journey at Stockholm University in a Master’s programme in the field of education. Her engagement in student representation has afforded her a distinctive perspective on academic and student life, particularly through active participation in international networks such as ENLIGHT.
Within the framework of the campaign, interviews are conducted with the selected individuals to examine how participation in the ENLIGHT network has broadened their academic and personal horizons. In her interview, Anette-Mai shares reflections on her experiences at the University of Tartu and offers her views on international collaboration and the future of (higher) education. Her full interview is available on the ENLIGHT website.
Those featured in the campaign include student representatives, professors, specialists, teaching staff, and soon-to-retire employees. Read the interview with the first person to represent the University of Tartu, the Professor of Environmental Health Hans Orru. The list of recognised individuals is continuously updated and can be followed on the ENLIGHT website.
