Interest in the European Research Council (ERC) programme has grown among researchers at the University of Tartu. In response, the Grant Writing Unit is organising an ERC Information Event on 4 November 2025, focused on individual ERC Starting, Consolidator, and Advanced Grants.

The event will provide:

  • Key facts about ERC call types and deadlines
  • Insights into the ERC programme and application process
  • Preliminary information about the 2026 UT ERC Support Scheme
  • First-hand experiences from ERC grantee Hedvig Tamman, Associate Professor in Genetics, and ERC evaluator Maciej Jakub Eder, Visiting Professor of Digital Humanities.
  • Access to our Library of successful ERC proposals (optional)

10.00-12.00 ERC Library reading session (pre-booking required)
Participants may choose up to 3 proposals from the available list to review.

12.00-13.00 Break

Main programme

13.00-14.30 ERC Information presentation, UT’s ERC Support Scheme, and general Q&A
Overview of ERC funding schemes, practical guidance and key facts about UT’s Support Scheme for ERC applicants.

14.30-16.00 Presentations by ERC Grantee Hedvig Tamman and Evaluator Maciej Jakub Eder, Q&A with experts
Real-life experiences and tips for successful applications.

16.00-17.00 Socialising with coffee and snacks
A chance to connect and exchange ideas with other applicants and Grant Writing Unit consultants.

Optional evening programme

17.00-19.00 ERC Library reading session (pre-booking required)
Participants may choose up to 3 proposals to review.
