Estonian and Latvian governments hold a joint session at University of Tartu Museum

On Wednesday, 27 August, the governments of Estonia and Latvia meet in Tartu for their second joint session to discuss their cooperation and the region’s future. Rector Toomas Asser will welcome the delegations. The session and the press conference with the prime ministers of both countries take place at the University of Tartu Museum.

During the discussions, members of the governments of the two countries will focus on security and crisis preparedness, the development of transport connections and other strategic infrastructure projects, enhancing regional competitiveness, and promoting cooperation in the digital field. Special attention is given to joint efforts related to the upcoming multiannual financial framework of the European Union.

A visit to the Kuperjanov Infantry Battalion in Võru precedes the joint session. The official programme ends with the ceremony of presenting the Latvian and Estonian Language Promotion Award at Tartu Town Hall. Ministers of Foreign Affairs Margus Tsahkna and Baiba Braže will present the award.

On 27 August, the University of Tartu Museum will be closed to visitors.
