Rector congratulated players of the Estonian championship-winning basketball team Tartu Ülikool Maks & Moorits

On 29 May, the University of Tartu basketball team were crowned Estonian champions, bringing the title back to Tartu after an 11-year break. On 1 June, the players were received and recognised by the University of Tartu rector, director of administration, and Ulla Preeden and Martin Bek, the Deputy Mayors of Tartu.

With their dedication, strong team spirit and determination, the team has brought great joy to university members and all basketball fans, who are extremely proud of the players’ and coaches’ achievements.

At the reception, the players and coaches were presented with special keepsakes – the Tiksu stuffed toys inspired by the university’s mascot. These will serve as a reminder of the university community’s support and the shared joy of winning the championship.

The University of Tartu is grateful to the players, coaches and the entire team for their committed work, and wishes them continued success in the next season.
