This semester’s last Harmonia Universitatis concert

The last concert of the Harmonia Universitatis series this semester will take place in the university assembly hall on 16 December at 18:00. The concert is entitled “Vahemere viisid”.

The concert series of the University of Tartu and the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre was launched in 2023 and has presented five concerts over the past two years.

This concert will feature soprano Perrine Madoeuf, with Ave Wagner on piano and Henry-David Varema on cello. The programme includes songs and arias by French and Spanish composers, such as Gounod, Chausson, Massenet, Ravel, Montsalvatge, Obradors, among others.

Perrine Madoeuf is a French soprano who gained international attention as Juliette in Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette at the Opéra Comique in Paris in 2021 – the critics praised her captivating voice and stage presence. She has performed in leading roles in La Traviata, Rigoletto, Eugene Onegin, L’elisir d’amore and La bohème, and has performed at the Royal Danish Theatre, Komische Oper Berlin, the national operas in Estonia and Latvia, and opera houses across France. Madoeuf graduated from the Conservatoire of Lyon, completed her training at the Opera Studio of Flanders, and has earned recognition at international competitions.

Ave Wagner is a pianist and vocal coach who graduated from the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre and completed further studies at the conservatoires of Lyon and Geneva. Since 2001, Wagner has worked as a senior lecturer in the accompaniment class and opera studio at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre. Since 2022, she has been a pianist-repetiteur at the Estonian National Opera. Wagner has participated in international opera projects and collaborated with renowned singers and conductors, including Sonya Yoncheva, Benjamin Bernheim, Ain Anger, and Jaakko Ryhänen.

The concert is free for all school and university students. Tickets are available from Piletikeskus or at the venue. Please note that students also need to download their free ticket from Piletikeskus. Anyone using a discount is asked to bring a document proving the right to the discount.

At the concerts, the students and lecturers of the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre take the audience on a journey of musical discovery, performing solo programmes and in various ensembles. The aim of the series is to offer memorable musical experiences to South Estonian audiences in the University of Tartu assembly hall.
