On 24 and 25 September, a delegation from the universities and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine visited the University of Tartu. The meetings focused on university governance, strategic planning and funding, and opportunities for higher education cooperation between Estonia and Ukraine.
On 24 September, the leaders of the Ukrainian universities and representatives of the University of Tartu held an informal meeting. The visitors asked about the university’s governance and day-to-day operations, and exchanged experiences with Estonian colleagues.
During a joint seminar in the afternoon, topics related to the University of Tartu governance were explored, including the legal framework, strategic planning, financial management, and support for preparing EU project proposals. Presentations were followed by a discussion in which the participants compared the organisation of work at different universities and exchanged experiences.
On 25 September, the delegation visited the University of Tartu Delta centre. This was followed by a concluding meeting on opportunities for higher education cooperation between Estonia and Ukraine. In addition to universities, the discussion involved the representatives of the Estonian Research Council and the Ministry of Education and Research.
These meetings were part of the Ukrainian delegation’s visit to Estonia. The visit, which took place from 22 to 25 September, was funded by the Estonian Centre for International Development (ESTDEV). The aim was to support the reform of Ukraine’s higher education system by providing advice and assistance to the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and helping implement reforms through training and cooperation.
