University of Tartu recruits an equality officer

The University of Tartu is recruiting an equality officer to support university members in cases of unequal treatment and ensure a fair and professional handling of such cases.

The equality officer will be involved in resolving specific cases and in prevention work. The duties include advising, contributing to the resolution of conflict situations, and developing case-handling procedures. The equality officer also plays an important role in raising awareness of unequal treatment and supporting university members in related matters.

This position was established as part of a broader initiative to shape a university culture in which both staff and students feel safe and valued. Also, one of the objectives in the University of Tartu strategic plan for 2026–2035 is to become a university with the best learning and working environment, in which activities promoting equal treatment play a crucial role. The equality officer will support the implementation of the objectives of the strategic plan in the university’s day-to-day work and ensure that cases of unequal treatment are addressed fairly and professionally.

The Human Resources Office and the equal treatment strategy commitee are preparing the gender equality plan for 2026–2030. The equality officer will be involved in the activities outlined in the plan.
