As many as 248 students and 231 staff members signed up for the step challenge that took place from 1 to 30 April. In total, UT participants logged more than 101 million steps, which is about 72,200 km.
The largest number of students, 100, signed up from the Faculty of Science and Technology. The Faculty of Arts and Humanities was represented by 58, the Faculty of Medicine by 41 and the Faculty of Social Sciences by 49 students. UT staff logged more than 55 million steps in the challenge.
The most active staff members were Kersti Kuusemäe, Kristi Lepasepp and Maire Vares from support units and institutions, Tiia Laansoo, Age Allas and Kätlin Luhamägi from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Liina Käärst, Kristi Asser and Eelika Laane-Hannus from the Faculty of Social Sciences, Inga Villa, Kerda Pulk and Karin T from the Faculty of Medicine, and Nele Taba, Sven Oras and Mihkel Rähn from the Faculty of Science and Technology.
The most active students were Krista Tomson, Katre Haasma and Elisabeth Sild from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Ingrid Kaljula, Maarja Kiplok and Anastassia Zahhartšenko from the Faculty of Social Sciences, Eliise Veltri, Michel Marjamaa and Rebecca Kodusaar from the Faculty of Medicine, and Jaan Vihalemm, Kaur Kullamäe and Katariina R from the Faculty of Science and Technology.
In each category (staff, HV, SV, MV and LT), three members of the university family who logged the most steps receive prizes.

All winners will be contacted by email. The prizes can be collected from Juhan Kari at the UT gift shop (Ülikooli 18–104) on working days from 12 to 16.
In total, 4,000 pupils, teachers, academic staff, students, educators and parents across Estonia took part in the step challenge Spring Steps 2025. During the month of April, they logged a total of nearly 600 million steps, with an average of 7,184 steps a day.
