Last week of admissions to English-taught curricula at UT

It is possible to apply for the English-taught master’s curricula at the UT Faculty of Arts and Humanities and Faculty of Social Sciences, the integrated curriculum of Medicine and the Faculty of Science and Technology’s bachelor’s curriculum Science and Technology until midnight on Friday, 15 April.

Admission to the master’s curricula of the Faculty of Science and Technology has already ended.

Elin Sütiste, Programme Director of the English-taught Semiotics curriculum in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, described that an education in semiotics gives an additional dimension to the prior interests and knowledge of local and international students and this enables to give meaning to their field from a different angle which highlights the relations of phenomena.

“The English-taught Semiotics master’s programme is composed so that it does not require prior education in semiotics and is intended for people with various backgrounds, from philologists to historians and from advertisers to natural scientists,” said Sütiste and added that among the alumni of Semiotics are practical semiotics experts, artists–writers, researchers of human-animal relations etc.

René Värk, Programme Director of the International Law and Human Rights programme of the Faculty of Social Sciences, stressed that international law and human rights have a significant part in the modern world because knowledge of these fields helps understand and assess the behaviour of the international community.

“At first, the programme provides wide basic knowledge of international law and human rights and it is then possible to specialise in a narrower field, according to the student’s interests, with elective courses. The global nature of these branches of law enables to apply the acquired knowledge and skills in the student’s home country and on an international level,” said Värk.

The most applications to the curricula open for admissions have been submitted to the curriculum of Business Administration—160. This is followed by International Relations and Regional Studies with 144 applications and Medicine with 142 applications.
