Research Group of Physical Activity for Health recognised for initiative "Schools in Motion" at European level

The UT Research Group of Physical Activity for Health was awarded first place in the pan-European #BeActive Awards for initiative "Schools in Motion".

Schools in Motion was nominated for the European Commission #BeActive Education Award, which recognises activities in the field of education that implement various programmes in addition to regular school or nursery school physical education programmes to encourage young people to exercise. The Estonian project surpassed the Finnish (Ekholmintie Day Care Center) and German projects (Turnverein 1899 Gengenbach e.V.).

The European Commission’s #BeActive Awards acknowledge promoters of sports on a local level and outstanding sports-related undertakings in the field of education and workplace sports.

This is the fourth time in the last five years Estonia has been among the best at the #BeActive Awards. In 2015, the children’s charity relay race was awarded second place in its category. In 2016, Eesti Energia’s indoor health trail was named the best activity in the workplace and in 2018 Rimi Estonia made it among the top three in the workplace sports category.
