Outcome:
Upon the completion of the course the student:
1) defines and explain the characteristics of a destination;
2) describes the roles of destination management;
3) categorizes the stakeholders in destination management;
4) explains the 10 As of successful destinations;
5) analyses the uniqueness of destination management and marketing;
6) explains the principles of destination governance and stewardship;
7) describes the types of destination management organizations at different geographic levels.

Teachers:
Alastair Maclean Morrison - PhD, Principal Researcher at the University of Greenwich (UK) and Emeritus Professor of Tourism and Hospitality Business at Purdue University (USA). Professor Morrison has published nearly 300 research articles, several textbooks and voluminous books on tourism marketing, development, tourism systems and destination management.
He is one of the most prolific contributors in the world to the academic journals in tourism and hospitality management. He has published approximately 300 academic articles and conference proceedings, as well as over 50 research monographs related to marketing and tourism. He is the author of several books on tourism marketing and development. Professor Morrison has consulted several destinations in the world on management in hospitality and tourism. He has received teaching awards in universities all over the world. Stanford University placed Professor Morrison among the Top 2% of World Scientists in 2022.

Grading method:
The homework will include two parts, both will result in class presentations: 1) group project on DM&M in an Estonian destination (or Baltics), with group presentation near end of course; and 2) individual presentations on a specific theme/topic related to DM&M (of about 15 minutes) taken from MMTD3 book.
Grading criteria:
Minimum level 60% of total marks available. The students are required to attend all web lectures. Class participation will represent 25% of the total marks; thus active participation in class discussions is expected of every student. Students are expected to read the book chapters assigned from MMTD3
