Outcome:
Those who have successfully completed the program are capable of:
- Describing the structure, role, tasks, development history, operation and influence of the main institutions of the European Union in different types of policy areas (including supranational vs. intergovernmental);
- Describing the policy-making process in the European Union and knowing the role of the main institutions, member states, interest groups and citizens in it;
- Explaining how European Union policies are implemented and implemented at various levels (including economic policy, enlargement);
- Describing and evaluating changes in the process of economic integration of the European Union, including the latest developments and possible future trends;
- Critically analyze the impact of the European Union on candidate countries, neighborhood policy countries and Europe in general historically and today.
Starting conditions:
Application to the program is based on a CV and motivation letter.
Teachers:
The lecturers of the courses are academic employees of the UT Skytte Institute, all of whom have at least five years of teaching competence in the respective subjects.
Prof. Piret Ehin is a professor of comparative politics and a recognized expert on EU issues in Estonia, who, in addition to teaching and research, has conducted several applied studies on behalf of the State Chancellery, the Riigikogu Foreign Affairs Committee, various foreign missions, etc.
Dr. Stefano Braghiroli is an associate professor of European Union studies and the head of the master's program in European studies, who, in addition to research and teaching, has implemented several Jean Monnet study projects on the topics of the EU's neighborhood policy and enlargement policy.
Dr. Edgars Eihmanis is a researcher in comparative politics who defended his doctorate in 2020 at the European University Institute and has studied the development of the economic policies of the EU member states of Central and Eastern Europe in both the Covid-19 and financial crises.

Learning environment:
Studies and teaching takes place in appropriate classrooms, which have the required teaching equipment and meet the health and safety requirements.
Schedule and further information:
Interactive contact lessons are held once a week via Zoom (90 minutes). In addition, the Moodle learning platform is used, where learning materials are available, including short preparatory lecture videos, tests, etc., and communication between participants takes place.
The micro-credential program consists of the following courses:
P2EC.00.248 European Union policy making (6 ECTS)
SVJS.00.024 European Union enlargement and European challenges (6 ECTS)
P2EC.00.244 Contemporary challenges of European integration (6 ECTS)
Requirements to complete:
According to the conditions for passing subjects.
In order to obtain a micro- credential program certificate, it is necessary to successfully complete subjects with a total volume of 12 ECTS. Upon completion of the program, it is possible to take into account the credits received when applying for the Master's degree programs of the Skytte Institute.
