Purpose:
The aim of the program is to provide current and future tourism workers with the knowledge and skills necessary to improve the competitiveness and sustainability of tourism businesses and destinations using innovative approaches.
Target group:
Entrepreneurs, potential students, DMOs, public sector organizations related to tourism, middle managers and employees of spas and spa hotels, people interested in tourism, wellness and spa topics.
Outcome:
A student who completed the program:
1) knows the nature of design thinking and the difference from inductive and deductive thinking;
2) knows the descriptive models of the service design process and the methods applied in the stages of the service design process, including the basic methods of visualizing the service offering process (customer journey and service plan, etc);
3) understands the characteristics of sustainable tourism, including social, economic and environmental ones;
4) determines the goals, strengths and obstacles of the sustainable development of tourism;
5) identifies the key players in sustainable tourism in order to understand the role and opportunities of each party in the sustainable development of tourism;
6) understands the factors affecting competitiveness in the context of the local and international market;
7) understands the functioning of various clusters and cooperation networks and knows how to create and manage strategic partnerships;
8) prepares strategies for increasing the competitiveness of tourism business and destinations.
Starting conditions:
BA degree or higher education. English language skills at B2 level.

The micro-degree program takes place in cooperation of three higher education institutions:
1. Pärnu College of the University of Tartu, Estonia
2. Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences, Latvia
3. Klaipeda University, Lithuania

and consists of subjects:
SVPC.02.077 Tourism Competitiveness, 4 ECTS
SVPC.02.054 Service Design, 4 ECTS
SVPC.02.076 Sustainable Tourism Development, 4 ECTS
Requirements to complete:
All subjects of the program were passed with a positive result.
A UT digital certificate will be issued to those who have passed the micro-degree program 100%. In case of partial completion of the micro-degree program, UT digital certificate of the completed subjects will be issued.
