Watch live: Ceremony and concert marking the 106th anniversary of the Republic of Estonia

On Friday, 23 February at 12, university members are invited to the ceremony and concert dedicated to the 106th anniversary of the Republic of Estonia in the university’s assembly hall. At the event, the contribution to society award, research award and teaching staff of the year awards, the Peeter Tulviste memorial scholarship, and the University of Tartu, University of Latvia and Vilnius University Rectors’ Scholarship are presented.

President Toomas Hendrik Ilves, Visiting Professor of Democracy in the Digital Age, delivers the speech “The owl of Minerva takes flight only at dusk” at the ceremony. 

Students' greetings are presented by Aurora Ruus, first-year master's student in Philosophy at the University of Tartu Faculty of Arts and Humanities.

Musical performances are by the Academic Women’s Choir of the University of Tartu (conductor Triin Koch) and Mari Kalkun. 

Simultaneous interpretation into English is provided at the ceremony.
