ENLIGHT RISE Research Assessment Working Group invites policy makers, members of the research and HR support staff, staff members of grant offices, research intelligence specialists and analysts from the University of Tartu to take part in an online workshop on the responsible evaluation of research and researchers on 19 September from 11 to 16.

Estonia's research and economy would have much to gain from closer cooperation with the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN). However, this requires more thoughtful funding in the field of science in Estonia, which would ensure both the stability of research and a steady supply line of young researchers.

On 23 August, University of Tartu Professor of Macroeconomics and Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences Raul Eamets submitted an application to Rector Toomas Asser to resign from the dean's position. The rector accepted the application on the same day, dismissed Eamets from the dean's position and appointed Professor Janno Lahe, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs of the Faculty of Social Sciences, as acting dean. 

Today, on 17 August, the council of the Faculty of Social Sciences convened to discuss the rector’s motion to express no confidence in Dean Raul Eamets to dismiss him from the position of dean before the end of his employment contract as professor.

On 1 August, Rector Toomas Asser started his second term of office, and the new composition of the Rector's Office starts work. Rector's inauguration ceremony takes place on 25 August at 16 at the university's assembly hall.
