Centre for Digitalised Bioengineering DigiBio

DigiBio aims to combine synthetic biology with computer science and thereby achieve a quality leap both in biosciences and in the industry using biotechnology. For that, the team is setting up a unit for the digitalised designing and building of cell systems that is linked to IT units dealing with big data processing and machine learning. In cooperation with partners from the Novo Nordisk Foundation Centre for Biosustainability at the Technical University of Denmark, we are developing a unique centre in the region, the work of which will also provide favourable conditions for the development of new biotech-related IT start-ups and the bio-industry. In Estonia, Tallinn University of Technology is also involved in the project.

Centre for Personalised Medicine TeamPerMed

The project aims to establish a personalised medicine research and development centre of international excellence in Estonia in collaboration with Tartu University Hospital. It will bring together expertise in the fields of genetics, IT, clinical medicine, public health and socio-economic analyses to explore all stages of the implementation of personalised medicine in an integrated way. The project will involve research, evaluating the utility and cost-effectiveness of personalised healthcare services through clinical trials, making electronic health records more usable and supporting innovation.

The project’s external partners are the University of Helsinki and Erasmus University Rotterdam.
