Terms and Conditions of the UniTartu Summer School

By paying the application fee, course fee and cultural events fee, you accept the terms and conditions outlined below. You are required to tick the box in the credit card payment form to confirm you have read and agree to these terms and conditions. If you choose to pay by bank transfer, you will be informed of the same conditions. Please note that by paying the fees, you are considered to have accepted the Terms and Conditions.

Application fee

The application fee must be paid in order to apply for a summer course. Your application will only be considered once the 25EUR fee has been received by the University of Tartu’s system. The application fee is non-refundable, even if you are not accepted into the course.

The application fee can be paid by a credit card or bank transfer (read more here).

Course fee and cultural event fee

The course fees and social events fees are listed on the UniTartu Summer School website, and these prices are final. Payments for the course fee and cultural event fee can be made by credit card or bank transfer (read more here).

Please note that payment must be made by the deadline indicated on the invoice. If a student fails to pay by the deadline, they will no longer be considered part of the course. If an extension is needed, the student must submit a written request for an extension to the UniTartu Summer School organisation team by emailing isu@ut.ee.

What is included in the course fee?

  • Study materials (both online and on-site)
  • 5-10 days of academic instruction with lecturers (depending on the course)
  • 2-6 ECTS (depending on the course)

  • Booking their own accommodation. The UniTartu Summer School team can assist in booking dormitory rooms, but other accommodation arrangements must be made by the student.
  • Covering their accommodation and travel costs
  • Local transportation within Tartu

Terms of Cancellation and Refund

This policy applies to course fee payments and cultural event fee payments.

  • If you wish to cancel your participation, you must inform the UniTartu Summer School organisation team in writing via e-mail: isu@ut.ee.
  • 90% of the programme fee will be refunded if you cancel participation and apply for a refund at least 30 days before the start of the programme.
  • If you cancel less than 30 days before the programme begins, no refund will be issued.
  • If the University of Tartu cancels the programme due to unforeseen circumstances, you will be informed at least one month before the course starts. In such case, we will fully refund the programme fee or offer a substitute programme. Please note that the university does not cover personal travel costs, so we strongly recommend obtaining travel insurance.
  • The university reserves the right to claim the programme fee in accordance with the above-mentioned terms if you have received a Letter of Confirmation and cancel the participation without written notice.

NB! The same policy applies if you are forced to cancel due to a visa rejection.

Management of the Refund

  • To apply for the refund, please send a written request including your bank details via e-mail to isu@ut.ee
  • Refunds will only be issued to the person or institution that originally paid the programme fee.

If a course is cancelled due to an insufficient number of participants, the University of Tartu will fully refund the course fee.
