Kristiina Tõnnisson re-elected Head of the Skytte Institute

At the meeting on 23 May, the Council of Johan Skytte Institute of Political Studies elected Dr Kristiina Tõnnisson, Lecturer in Public Administration, for the position of Head of the Institute.

Tõnnisson identified the balanced management of continuous growth at the Skytte Institute as the key issue for her time in office, along with bringing in new research projects, improving the timely completion of doctoral studies, and developing microdegrees. "I am thrilled to continue working with such an excellent team as the one at the Skytte Institute. We have already implemented several plans and ideas together, yet much more can be done. We have three exciting years ahead of us," she added.

Kristiina Tõnnisson received her PhD from the University of Tartu in Public Administration and Social Policy. She has previously worked in several public and third sector organisations and served as an expert and consultant for multiple advisory boards and institutions. She was Director of the UT European College in 2009-2015 and Head of the Skytte Institute in 2016-2017. Her previous term started in 2020. She is also a member of the Tartu City Government and head of the Council of Domus Dorpatensis Foundation for Science and Liberal Arts.

The new Head will assume office on 1 August 2023 for a three years term.
