Purpose:
The main aim of the course is to obtain knowledge about classification and nomenclature of medicinal plants, as well as several active substances, their chemical and biological properties.
Outcome:
The student who graduated the programme:
- is able to find science-based information on herbs
- can identify the main medicinal plants growing in Estonia
- has an overview about classification of herbs
- knows structures and general aspects of differents groups of biologically active substances
- knows main herbal drugs from differents groups of biologically active substances
- knows the principles of cultivating medicinal plants and their marketing
