Astronomer Tõnu Viik and sky photographer Martin Vällik in discussion at the Institute of Computer Science's Culture Club

On 26 October, the first Culture Club was held in the Delta Study and Research Building, which kicked off a series of club events at the Institute of Computer Science. Astronomer Tõnu Viik and sky photographer Martin Vällik spoke to the audience at the opening event, and artist, lecturer and researcher Kärt Summatavet moderated the discussion.

As part of the event, photographer Martin Vällik opened his photo exhibition "Moon" in the Delta. The overall design of the exhibition uses the movements and playful views of the celestial sphere: the photographs are placed in unexpected and unusual places in the building, lifting the visitor's gaze to the heights and distances. The photos reflect various phenomena related to the Moon, such as the Moon's rising and setting, the change of its phases, Earthshine, eclipse, color play, and the relationship of the Moon with objects on the ground. The exhibition „Moon“ will remain open until the end of February 2023 and is open to the public.

The Culture Club is a series of events bringing together artists and scientists to highlight the links between science and art. The Culture Club will bring to the fore spaces of reflection and creative value systems that inspire and inspire both the speakers and the members of the club.
