Throughout my life, I have explored both the sciences and the social sciences - from excelling in public speaking and participating in law court simulations to competing in chemistry Olympiads. These diverse experiences shaped my curiosity, strengthened my critical thinking, and showed me how different perspectives can complement each other. At the same time, I have always felt a deep connection to biology and the natural sciences, fascinated by how living systems function at the cellular and molecular levels.

For years, I wondered which path to follow, having been accepted into several programmes in social sciences as well as a science programme. After my admission, I still felt hesitation about the right choice. While exploring the university, I discovered a blog by Natavan about studying Science and Technology. Her experiences resonated deeply with me and inspired my decision to choose this programme. After reading her incredible blog, I became especially drawn to genetics and biotechnology - fields that provide powerful tools to tackle pressing challenges in health, agriculture, and the environment. I am motivated by the opportunity to contribute to scientific advancements that can genuinely enhance the quality of life for people worldwide. Thanks to the ISA Ambassador - Natavan, whose guidance and support have been invaluable, I was able to balance my social and scientific passions and confidently choose a path that truly reflects who I am.

At the University of Tartu, I see a place where I can fully bring together my curiosity, skills, and ambition to contribute meaningfully to science and make a real impact on the world. I am excited to embark on this journey, eager to learn, grow, and help develop solutions that improve lives and benefit society. University of Tartu - where the university finds its students and students find themselves!

Why Estonia?

Growing up, I was always curious about different countries and cultures, but I knew very little about Estonia. That all changed during an intellectual competition when I first heard about this fascinating country. That moment sparked my curiosity, and I began exploring everything about Estonia - its language, culture, and advanced digital lifestyle.

The second thing that drew me in was Tartu. With its peaceful parks, the gentle flow of the Emajõgi River, and charming streets lined with history, it felt like the perfect city to live, study, and reflect. I also fell in love with Estonia’s nature - quiet forests, lakes, and countryside that feels magical. Over time, I developed certain Estonian habits, such as enjoying "kohuke", the sweet, glazed curd snack, almost every day, and wandering through the outdoors, whispering to myself, “Armas Eesti!” at every breathtaking sight.

Finally, what makes Tartu and Estonia truly special is the people. Their spirit of sharing and caring makes me feel at home, almost as if I were back in Azerbaijan. Exploring the city, meeting students, and enjoying nature have shown me how unique, welcoming, and inspiring this country is. Living here has become more than just studying - it’s a daily journey of discovery, connection, and joy.
