Purpose:
The aim of the course is to develop basic understanding of motivational interviewing and create a foundation for using motivational interviewing in everyday practice.
Target group:
University teachers
Outcome:
1. The course participants will have an basic understanding of the concepts of motivational interviewing.
2. The participants will able to analyze some aspects of a psychological consultation through the lens of motivational interviewing.
3. The participants are able to demonstrate aspects of motivational interviewing spirit in a typical consultation.
4. The participants are able to use core conversation skills for connecting and enhancing motivation of the client at least episodically if intended.
Teachers:
Tõnu Jürjen - Tõnu Jürjen has an MA in Psychology, he is a certified psychological counsellor and school psychologist. He is working in the UT Counselling Centre since 2020. Also, he is teaching courses in the Institute of Psychology and Institute of Education. He has been supervising interns in both school and counselling psychology. He is a member of Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers Inc.
