Even a small donation can make a big difference!

University of Tartu scholarship fund for Ukrainian students gave out this autumn’s scholarships. During the year, the fund collected nearly 117,000 euros with the help of companies, individuals and Estonian diaspora in Canada and the US and gave out 113 scholarships to Ukrainian students.

The University of Tartu and the University of Tartu Foundation are grateful to all who have donated to the fund. The fund continues collecting donations to support Ukrainian students also in the future. The new application round is planned to be opened on 15 February 2023, but this can only happen if the fund has enough resources by then.

However, we need to keep this up to ensure that we can also support students in the spring, so that they could continue their studies. We currently have more than 4,000 employees and nearly 14,000 students at the university. I invite all of you to make a small recurring donation to the fund. If each employee donated €5 per month and each student €1, we would have €100,000 by the beginning of the spring semester to continue supporting students. Setting up a recurring donation is easy and takes just a minute or two.

Stories of Ukrainian students

“I study Business Administration at the University of Tartu. In the spring, the university gave me a scholarship, which was a huge help for me and our family. My father lost his business and couldn't finance me. I lived on this scholarship for a long time. Thank you for supporting Ukrainians in such a difficult time.“

“I sincerely appreciate the financial aid you provided. It was a rapid and solid support for my studies and for my family in general. Since my mother lost a stable job in Ukraine, the scholarship served as a financial cushion. It covered some months of my living costs.“
