Duties and responsibilities
- Teaching evidence-based practice in health sector, including the methodology and implementation, at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Tartu in both Estonian and English at contemporary methodological and educational technology level.
- Organizing and developing evidence-based practice in health sector (hereafter: specialized) education within the university, including the Faculty of Medicine.
- Ensuring specialized academic succession through supervising students (primarily master's students) and early-career researchers (PhD students), particularly at the Faculty of Medicine.
- Continuosly developing specialized skills, including applicable teaching and supervision skills.
- Conducting high-level specialized research, development, and creative activities (hereafter: R&D activities), including acquiring necessary resources, and ensuring effective execution of the activities.
- Conducting international-level research in the amount of at least one doctoral dissertation in five years.
- Supervising employees involved in R&D activities.
- Continuously developing skills necessary for R&D activities.
- Participating in the activities of Estonian and international specialized organizations, including participation in organizing international events.
- Contributing to the development of documents underpinning evidence-based practice (treatment and other guidelines, evidence utilized in patient pathways, health technology assessments).
- Participating in Estonian and international expert groups and committees, guiding or supporting evidence-based practice in health sector.
- Contributing to the development of specialized methodology, including terminology, both in Estonia and internationally.
- Participating in university governance and development activities, including participation in academic and administrative decision-making bodies, and preferably fulfilling at least one leadership task within the university.
- Engaging in societal activities, including promoting evidence-based practice, and participating in activities aimed at advancing it at national and/or international level.
Required qualifications
PhD or an equivalent qualification in the specialized field.
Required experience
- Experience in teaching evidence-based practice in health sector, including the methodology and implementation, in both Estonian and English at university level, including as responsible course instructor.
- Experience in training health professionals (e.g., medical residents, doctors, nurses, etc.) in evidence-based practice.
- Experience in organizing and developing academic teaching, including at progamme and/or faculty level.
- Experience in supervising students (primarily master's students) and early-career researchers (PhD students) at the university, particularly at the Faculty of Medicine level.
- Continuous self-development in specialized methodology, and teaching and supervision skills.
- Participation in both Estonian and international R&D projects, including leading the project(s).
- Ongoing active engagement in research: international-level research in the past five years in the volume equivalent to at least one doctoral thesis.
- Experience in supervising employees involved in R&D activities.
- Continuous development of skills required for R&D activities.
- Participation in Estonian and international expert groups and committees, guiding or supporting evidence-based practice in health sector.
- Participation in the activities of Estonian and international specialized organizations, including participation in organizing international events.
- Participation in the development of documents underpinning evidence-based practice (treatment and other guidelines, evidence utilized in patient pathways, health technology assessments).
- Experience in participation in the development of specialized methodology, including terminology, both in Estonia and internationally.
- Participation in university governance and development activities, including participation in academic and administrative decision-making bodies, and fulfilling at least one leadership task within the university.
- Participation in societal activities, including promotion of evidence-based practice in the health sector, including participation in applicable activities at national and/or international level.
Required language skills
Excellent command in Estonian and English. Knowledge of Russian is an advantage.
