Purpose:
The aim of the program is to give an overview of business processes and opportunities in the technology sector, including an overview of contemporary knowledge and technology-based entrepreneurship, business models, sectoral differences, knowledge transfer and internationalisation, specific features comparing traditional entrepreneurship fields, investment opportunities, the role of intellectual property, product development etc. Own experience is shared by technology entrepreneurs.
Target group:
The program is suitable for those interested in technological entrepreneurship or who want to start/grow their own technological business, expand its activities or create an innovative business model.
Outcome:
A. KNOWLEDGE, the learners get:

Understanding of specific features and challenges of the technology entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial process, the role of technology in the entrepreneurial process.
Overview of the technology business in Estonia and worldwide, trends on the market. Business opportunities in Estonia and globally.
Understanding of processes of launching a technology company, specific aspects of management and support processes, strategic options and growth paths.

B. SPECIAL SKILLS AND COMPETENCES, the learner:

Understands basic concepts and terminology of the technology business sector.

C. KEY SKILLS AND COMPETENCES, the learner:

Can analyse and shape technology- and knowledge-based entrepreneurial process, and strategy and business models for technology firms.
Starting conditions:
At least bachelor's degree.

The lecturers are employees of the University of Tartu with at least a master`s degree and practitioners from outside the university.

Tartu linn UT Delta building, Narva road 18, Tartu
Learning environment:
Studies and teaching takes place in appropriate classrooms, which have the required teaching equipment and meet the health and safety requirements.
Schedule and further information:
The lectures take place in the spring semester of 2023/2024 and consist of two courses.
Requirements to complete:
Has passed both subjects with a positive result (61%) and defended the business plan.
