Why did you choose to study this programme?

The interest in bridging the business and IT arose from my constant passion for discovering something new, beginning from childhood. I was a kid who was asking a thousand times a day, “WHY? WHY? WHY?” to learn new facts and to stay informed about the news around. This led to an interest in business studies with its constantly dynamic environment and need to develop creative solutions. Firstly, the academic way started at the University of Tartu with the Business Administration bachelor’s programme (see more here). This educational background shaped my better understanding of the business world and motivated me to continue with the Master’s degree, also at the University of Tartu. Secondly, during my bachelor’s studies, I became especially interested in how technology drives innovation and changes business models. And I found out that the ITM programme perfectly combines my creative approach to problem-solving with the desire to enhance analytical skills.

Why Estonia?

If someone asks me: “What is my love trope with Estonia?”, I would definitely say: “From friends to lovers”. Firstly, I went here as a tourist in 2019 and stayed in Tallinn for a week with my family, and this experience was amazing, despite the Old Town streets being slippery in March. By the way, I am a really big fan of winter, snow, Christmas, and basically everything that surrounds you in Estonia for more than four months. So, this atmosphere was the first green flag. This was also during elections, and I was amazed by Internet voting in Estonia, Eesti portal, Mobil ID, etc. The digital vibes around were the second green flag. So, we became good acquaintances. But we had a long-distance friendship for three years, not something serious yet. After the war started, after fleeing as a refugee to Lithuania, I returned to Estonia and applied to Bachelor’s degree. To my mind, liberty and safety are two values that can characterise Estonia. These values belong to the third green flag. These three green flags made our love story happen! Have I answered the question?
