University of Tartu ranks in the top 20 percent in European university rankings

In the first edition of the ranking of top European universities, compiled by the global higher education analyst Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), the University of Tartu ranks 137th.

QS, who have compiled the world rankings of top universities since 2004, released its first-ever QS World University Rankings: Europe today.

In addition to performance indicators familiar from the World University Rankings, the newly released ranking also includes new indicators which, according to QS, reflect the European values particularly well: the university’s inbound and outbound exchange student ratios and international student diversity (percentage of international students and number of nationalities represented).

The ranking features 688 universities from 42 European countries. From Estonia, also the Tallinn University of Technology and Tallinn University are represented, ranked 252nd and 390th, respectively.
