On 19 March, the University of Tartu hosted a delegation from universities of the German federal state of Baden-Württemberg. The delegation comprised the leaders and international relations staff from universities focusing on teacher education.
During the visit, the guests were introduced to the university’s management structure and international collaboration, and the discussions covered the digitalisation of teaching and research, and teacher education programmes. The delegation was particularly interested in digital transition in higher education, the various aspects of innovation, and the use of AI.
The delegation was received by Taivo Raud, Head of the Rector’s Strategy Office; Miia Rannikmäe, Professor of Science Education; Piret Luik, Professor of Didactics of Informatics; Eveli Soo, Head of International Marketing; Helen Hint, Lecturer in Academic Literacy and head of the working group for using chatbots in teaching and studies, and Imre Lall, Head of Services of the Information Technology Office.
During their stay in Estonia, the delegation also visited the Delta Centre, and universities and upper secondary schools in Tallinn to gain a better overview of the Estonian education system, the digitalisation of educational institutions, and the related challenges.
