The mentoring programme offers a valuable experience for both students and alumni

The mentoring programme will be held again this autumn semester, welcoming students, alumni and university staff to apply until 23 September.

During the programme, which has been running since 2017, experienced professionals share practical advice, help set goals and offer support to students eager to learn. Mentor-student collaboration can mean, for example, professional development advice, job shadowing or traineeship. This mentoring experience gives the student a strong competitive edge in the job market. Both alumni and staff are welcome to mentor.

For the past four years, the mentoring programme has been supported by the Estonian Chamber of Mentors, which organises a short training session on mentoring for alumni participating in the programme. Therefore, anyone who has not been involved in mentoring before can also apply.

Ülle Susi, an alumna of the University of Tartu and a board member of the Estonian Chamber of Mentors, encourages everyone to apply for the mentoring programme. "I know first-hand that the experience of working with a mentor is essential for success in today's working environment," said Susi. She emphasised that a mentor can always support and encourage us to go further than we thought we could.

In addition to the training for mentors and mentor-mentee meetings, the programme will include inspirational joint seminars by renowned experts in their fields.

This also allows students and alumni currently studying or living abroad to participate in the programme. Similarly, the programme can bring together our international students and alumni as mentees and mentors.

The deadline for applications is 23 September. For more information, see the mentoring programme website.
