Universities signed cooperation agreement to develop entrepreneurial platform

On April 4 six public universities signed a cooperation agreement to develop the joint entrepreneurial platform ADAPTER, which will provide businesses with quick and efficient cooperation with all Estonian higher education institutions.

The success of the entrepreneur lies in cooperation with research institutions because the key to the success of Estonian economy is research-intensive entrepreneurship. “At the reception for enterprises, which took place last week in Tallinn University of Technology, Prime Minister Taavi Rõivas also stressed the importance of cooperation between research and entrepreneurship to increase the productivity of Estonian economy,” said Vice Rector for Innovation and Internationalisation Tea Varrak.

“Entrepreneurs have informed us at several meetings that although it is possible to find the contact information to initiate cooperation on the websites of various universities, creating a mutual contact point is a big step forward—we are now filling this request and hopefully for a long time and completely,” added University of Tartu Vice Rector for Development Erik Puura.

The entrepreneurial platform ADAPTER, unique in the Baltics, brings together the needs of the entrepreneurs and development potential of universities to raise the global competitiveness of Estonian companies. The solution will combine the services provided by higher education institutions, research and development cooperation, and product development and continuing education opportunities. This also creates a contact point to meet the requirements of entrepreneurs with the competence and technology possibilities of all universities.

ADAPTER partners also organise joint events, including the annual cooperation festival “Right Place at the Right Time”, which last year had nearly 500 participants, including 170 top researchers and numerous entrepreneurs.

The cooperation agreement was signed by UT Vice Rector for Development Erik Puura, Tallinn University of Technology’s Vice Rector for Innovation and Internationalisation Tea Varrak, Tallinn University’s Vice Rector for Development Eve Eisenschmidt, Estonian University of Life Sciences’ Vice Rector for Research Ülle Jaakma, Estonian Academy of Arts’ Vice Rector for Research Epp Lankots and Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and Research Margus Pärtlas.
