University of Tartu successful in ENLIGHT grant calls

In April, the teaching staff, researchers, students, and other staff members of all faculties of the University of Tartu were invited to present joint initiatives for ENLIGHT grants, provided that their projects encourage cooperation within the network. In total, nine educational projects launched with the University of Tartu were funded.  

ENLIGHT announced the winners of ten Incubator Grants and seven Thematic Network projects. In total, there were 80 project applications with more than 1,000 participants, reviewed and scored by more than 40 evaluators. 

ENLIGHT Incubator Grants aim to support joint future-proof education projects and stepping stones for international learning. The maximum funding for each initiative is 30,000 euros. The winning educational projects in cooperation with UT are 

  1. CLS: Educational Network Teaching and Studying the Basics (consortium: Ghent University as the lead, members: University of Galway, University of Bordeaux, University of Tartu with Associate Professor Katre Luhamaa), 
  1. EURSEC: Russia’s War Against Ukraine and New Spaces of Security and Insecurity in Europe (consortium: University of Tartu as the lead with Professor Andrey Makarychev, members: Ghent University, University of Bordeaux, Comenius University Bratislava),  
  1. FUTURES: Futures thinking; Universal; Transdisciplinary; Understanding; Reflection; Engagement; Sustainability (consortium: Uppsala University as the lead, members: University of Groningen, University of Tartu with Research Fellow Tiia Möller-Raid), 
  1. TrAIns: Using AI generated translation deliberately and responsibly across (consortium: University of Göttingen as the lead, members: , Ghent University, University of Tartu with Associate Professor Djuddah Leijen). 

ENLIGHT Thematic Networks aim to support interdisciplinary academic networks for developing joint challenge-based activities linking education, research and outreach. The maximum funding for each initiative is 150,000 euros. The winning Thematic Network projects in cooperation with UT are  

  1. REACT: Research and Education in Ageing Collaborative Team (consortium: University of Galway as the lead, members:  University of the Basque Country, University of Groningen, Ghent University, and University of Bern, University of Tartu with Professor Pärt Peterson), 
  1. DISRUPT: Digital Innovation Skills and Research for Urban and Periurban Transitions (consortium: University of Bordeaux as the lead, members: Ghent University, University of Göttingen,  University of Groningen, University of the Basque Country, University of Tartu with Associate Professor Kadri Leetma), 
  1. PLASTIMPACT: Fate and Impact of Plastics – from Macro to Nano – on Planetary Health (consortium: University of the Basque Country as the lead, members: University of Bordeaux, Ghent University, University of Groningen, University of Galway, University of Bern, University of Tartu with Research Fellow Tiia Möller-Raid), 
  1. IMAGINE: Interdisciplinary Migration Network for Equitable Future (consortium: University of Göttingen as the lead, members: University of Groningen, University of Bern,  Ghent University, University of Tartu with Professor Ene Kõresaar), 
  1. PLANTED: Sustainable plasma and bio-based wastewater micropollutant treatment – education and outreach network (consortium: University of Tartu as the lead with Associate Professor Indrek Jõgi, members: Ghent University, Comenius University Bratislava).
