Applications are invited for the mentoring programme

From 1 to 23 September, University of Tartu students and alumni, including staff members, can apply for the mentoring programme, which is held for the tenth time this year. Applications can be submitted on the university website.

This autumn semester, the mentoring programme, which has proved highly popular in previous years, will once again bring together our successful alumni, staff members and active students, including international alumni and students. Participation in the programme is free for all.

This year’s programme begins on 16 October in the university’s main building with the seminar “How to build a successful mentoring relationship?”, and ends on 18 February with the final seminar. Throughout the programme, mentors who are experts in a wide range of fields help support students’ academic and personal development.

Cooperation between a mentor and a student may include, for example:

• professional development counselling,
• job shadowing,
• traineeship.

For mentors, the programme offers an opportunity to develop as leaders, collaborators and colleagues. To acquire the fundamental skills needed for mentoring, the alumni and staff members participating in the programme can attend free seminars led by experienced mentors.

Those who complete the mentoring programme will receive a continuing education certificate. To get the certificate, the participants must write summaries of the meetings and a self-development analysis.

In addition to mentor training and mentor-mentee meetings, the programme will include inspirational joint seminars featuring renowned experts in their fields.

The programme is organised by Mare Aru, Career Counsellor at the University of Tartu Counselling Centre, Kristel Lään-Saarik, Career Counsellor and Head of the Counselling Centre, and Kadri Kõiv, adult educator, communication instructor and supervisor.
