Enno Akkel, former coach of the University of Tartu Academic Sports Club, received teachers’ lifetime achievement award

On 28 September, five lifetime achievement awards and 44 Teacher of the Year titles were presented at the recognition ceremony for educators of the city and county of Tartu. One of the recipients of the lifetime achievement awards was Enno Akkel, long-time coach of the UT Academic Sports Club.

Akkel, who celebrated his 85th birthday this summer, worked as a coach for 61 years and retired last summer. He worked at the academic sports club from 2006 to 2018. 

Other recipients of the lifetime achievement award were Urve Tamm, teacher at the Poku Kindergarten of Tartu; Tiina Hallik, teacher of German at Tartu Raatuse School; Leili Parhomenko, teacher of art and art history, and Sirje Eomõis, founder of the Rütmika gymnastics club.
