First entrepreneurship lab opened in Narva

On Friday, 4 March an entrepreneurship lab (E-Lab) starts operating in the University of Tartu Narva College. The Entrepreneurship Lab is opened by Lecturer at Uppsala University Mikael Schedrin (PhD). The lab was initiated in cooperation of Narva College, Ida-Viru County Government, Narva Business Advisory Services and the Embassy of Sweden.

The E-Lab will apply the live case method, developed in Uppsala University, which 16 Narva College IT, Entrepreneurship and Project Management students, together with other participants, will use to develop the business ideas gathered from entrepreneurial people in Ida-Viru County into implementable business plans. The developed business plans will remain property of the owner of the business idea.

According to the Director of UT Narva College Kristina Kallas, in order to develop Narva and the whole region, it is necessary to initiate and try out different solutions that promote entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial attitudes. UT Narva College feels the need to support the county’s entrepreneurial environment. In addition to the new entrepreneurship lab, the Narva School of Management also operates in Narva College, a training programme for tourism in cooperation with the Ida-Viru tourism cluster will start and there are plans for creating an EU-Russia competence centre in cooperation with partners.

UT Narva College will be part of a network of entrepreneurship labs which is being established in the Baltic Sea region at the initiative of Uppsala University. In order for the cooperation network to function, Uppsala is coordinating a joint project application for the Interreg Baltic Sea Region Programme. The E-Lab in Narva is supported by the Embassy of Sweden.

The opening of the Entrepreneurship Lab is on Friday, 4 March at 13:00 in Narva College, in lecture hall 216.
