On 7 November, the Mayor of Lviv Andri Sadovyi, together with the Ukrainian Ambassador Maksym Kononenko, visited the University of Tartu and met with the Vice Rector for Research Mari Moora.
The Mayor of Tartu Urmas Klaas and the Mayor of Lviv Andri Sadovyi signed a twinning agreement at the Tartu City Council on the same day. An overview of the University of Tartu was then given to the mayor of Lviv as well as a tour of the main building and the University of Tartu Art Museum.
Andri Sadovyi presented an impressive rehabilitation centre UNBROKEN currently under construction in Lviv, which will provide physical, psychological and psychosocial support to war survivors. Afterwards, the guests visited the Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Clinic of Tartu University Hospital, where they were welcomed by the Head of the Clinic Aet Lukmann.
The University of Tartu cooperates closely with several universities in Ukraine: for example, it has an Erasmus cooperation agreement with 20 Ukrainian universities. On 9 September, Orest Chemerys, Rector of Lviv National Medical University named after Danylo Halytsky, visited the University of Tartu and met with Rector Toomas Asser and the heads at the Faculty of Medicine.
