Estonia’s healthcare system is easy to navigate once you have a residence permit, health insurance, and a registered address. Family doctors are the main contact for care, while emergency treatment is free for everyone. International students are advised to register with a doctor early and stay proactive about their health.

UniTartu Summer School 2025 brought together participants from 25 nationalities for two weeks of learning and cultural exchange in Tartu. Participants emphasised the quality of the courses and activities, with 91% expressing high satisfaction.

The University of Tartu and Tallinn Health University of Applied Sciences have strengthened cooperation in intersectoral doctoral studies to support academic succession at the professional higher education institution and enhance its research capacity. In September, the first intersectoral doctoral researcher began their studies in the collaboration between the two institutions.

During this spring and summer, the University of Tartu received a record number of applications for doctoral studies. Out of 1,043 applications, 204 were submitted by applicants from Estonia and 839 by international applicants. Compared to last year, the number of applicants from Estonia increased by 19%.

This year, 10,808 people applied for first and second-level studies at the University of Tartu, submitting 14,863 applications.

This spring, the University of Tartu issued diplomas to 3,093 new alumni.
