Cognitive Linguistics conference brings linguists from more than 50 countries to Tartu

From 10 to 14 July, the 14th conference of the International Cognitive Linguistics Association (ICLC14) is held in the University of Tartu. The conference “Linguistic Diversity and Cognitive Linguistics” brings to Tartu nearly 500 participants from 50 countries all over the world.

The International Cognitive Linguistics Conference, a biennial event organised since 1989, is the most important meeting of cognitive linguists in the world. The chief organisers of the event Ilona Tragel and Jane Klavan admit that Estonia won the right to organise the ICLC conference in a tight competition in 2013. “Hosting such a significant linguistic event in Tartu will enhance high-level international research cooperation and improve the visibility of Estonian linguistics in the world,” said Dean of UT Faculty of Arts and Humanities Prof. Margit Sutrop.

Further information about the conference is available on the ICLC website
