Workshop UniTartu Navigator

Hands-on workshop from 26 to 28 August 2026.

UniTartu Navigator is a two-and-a-half-day hands-on workshop designed to help researchers assess the commercial potential of their research and understand the next steps towards practical application or a business solution. The workshop's language is English.

The workshop is intended for researchers, research teams, doctoral researchers and research-focused master’s students working on technologies or research projects with potential for successful commercialisation.

Registration is open until 17 August. Participants are requested to attend in teams of 2–3 members.

Main topics

The workshop focuses on guided teamwork rather than theory.

• Problem definition and initial market signal
  What is the problem about, how important it is, and for whom?
• Use context and value for the user
  How to connect the value of research with potential users and the market?

• Validation plan
  What are the key assumptions that need to be tested, and what are the concrete steps for the next 3–6 months?

• Preparing and structuring problem interviews
  How to prepare for a problem interview, how to select the right target groups, ask guiding questions, and distinguish relevant information from irrelevant details?

As part of the workshop

• participants will work on their own projects;

• the mentor will give guided feedback on the projects,
• short and practical presentations will be delivered.
