Duties and responsibilities
- Teaching at all levels of higher education (practical seminars and lectures on Latin and ancient Greek languages, literatures, and culture).
- Supervising Bachelor’s and Master’s theses, as well as students’ practical training.
- Creating teaching materials and developing teaching methods.
- Participation in curriculum development, student admission, and thesis defense committees.
- Participation in professional research on ancient languages and cultures with a focus on topics related to religion studies or comparative analysis of translation.
- In-service training, including teaching, supervision, and research skills.
- Popularising the specialty and professional networking.
Required qualifications
PhD in the field of classical philology, ancient history, or religious studies with a focus on patristics or biblical studies.
Required experience
- University teaching record of at least three years, with a focus on teaching Latin and ancient Greek basic-level classes.
- Skills in compiling study materials and using Moodle.
- Experience in supervising student research papers.
- Previous record of international humanities research and publishing in highly reputable peer-reviewed journals.
- Previous experience of working in research groups and good cooperation record.
- Skills in using the methods and literatures of classical philology and religious studies.
Required language skills
Excellent command of Latin and ancient Greek, very good command of Estonian and English and knowledge of Hebrew. Preferably proficiency in one additional foreign language.
