Doctoral networks

Networking is an important part of doctoral studies, and it can help young researchers establish a base for their future endeavours. This page provides information about various doctoral networks that the University of Tartu is a part of, as well as their activities.

Estonian Doctoral Society

The Estonian Doctoral Society (DOCSOC) brings together PhD candidates and early-career researchers from all Estonian universities. The Society’s goal is to create an inclusive and supportive community that fosters collaboration and represents doctoral students more broadly in society. They organize a wide variety of events at least once a month — from workshops and seminars to networking and collaboration activities. The Doctoral Society is a member of the Eurodoc network.

Europaeum

The network’s main emphasis is on facilitating student exchanges at doctoral level. In 2018, it launched the Europaeum Scholars Programme, a two-year policy and leadership course for the most talented, energetic and committed doctoral researchers from within the Europaeum network. A new call is announced every year.

coimbra group

Coimbra Group

Membership in the association of 41 classical European research universities provides the University of Tartu with a strong opportunity to participate in European level research and education policy debates and to develop new directions. The Doctoral Studies Working Group organizes the annual 3-minute thesis competition.
