Student exchange with universities belonging to the AEN network are carried out under the Utrecht Network. The AEN (Australian-European Network) unites six universities in Australia: Edith Cowan University in Perth, Central Queensland University, Griffith University in Queensland, Western Sydney University in Sydney, University of Tasmania and University of Wollongong. Scholarship Exchange students are guaranteed free tuition at a foreign university.

The University of Tartu has more than 60 partner universities in about 25 different countries and the bilateral academic cooperation agreements with these universities provide opportunities for the exchange of students and faculty staff. These university-wide cooperation agreements include all of the faculties and institutions at the university. However, not all partner universities participate in student exchanges - to date UT has active student exchange agreements with almost 26 universities in 10 countries.

Each year, a large number of students at the University of Tartu spend time studying abroad. You can locate study abroad programmes on your own, or you may take advantage of one of the many opportunities offered by the university. While you are abroad, you remain enrolled as a student of the University of Tartu; the courses you complete there will be credited toward your studies at UT and your studies abroad will be reflected in your graduation documents.

By registering for a course the student assumes an obligation to complete the course and take the final assessment.

International internships give students an invaluable international experience.

The Counselling Centre counsellors conduct workshops for University of Tartu students (including doctoral students) on different topics that support studies and the planning of work life.
