To ensure equal treatment at universities, it is necessary to develop the organisational culture, change the system for dealing with incidents, increase staff awareness, and develop the ability to spot unequal treatment and the courage to intervene, wrote Ester Oras and Kristi Kuningas in ERR.

From 10 to 16 February, the University of Tartu will have a thematic week for Women in Science, aiming to underline the role of women and girls in science, break gender stereotypes and encourage women to pursue a career in science. During the week, a discussion on ensuring equal opportunities is held, and the university’s gender statistics are presented. It is also possible to take a curator’s tour of the exhibition in the university’s museum and see a travelling exhibition about astronomers.

On 29 May, the Estonian Human Rights Centre presented the "Respecting differences" label to the University of Tartu for the second time at the joint building of ministries in Tallinn.

The University of Tartu, Tallinn University of Technology, Tallinn University, the Estonian University of Life Sciences, the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, the Estonian Academy of Arts, and the Gender Equality and Equal Treatment Commissioner celebrate the Diversity Week from 6 to 12 May, under the title “Diverse Estonian universities”.

The theme week, running from 5 to 11 February, will include a social media campaign highlighting the work and achievements of women researchers.

On 7 November, the Gender Equality and Equal Treatment Commissioner Christian Veske and his office met with representatives of the Human Resources Office and an equal treatment support person, Triin Paaver.

At the initiative of the Estonian Human Rights Centre, Diversity Month is celebrated in May. 10 May was Diversity Day.
