Studies in ENLIGHT universities

ENLIGHT is an alliance of European universities established in 2020. The ENLIGHT network consists of ten classical research universities: the University of the Basque Country, the University of Bern, the University of Bordeaux, Comenius University Bratislava, the University of Galway, Ghent University, the University of Groningen, the University of Göttingen, the University of Tartu, and Uppsala University. The ENLIGHT project is funded by the Erasmus+ programme and focuses primarily on the internationalisation of the field of study.

One of ENLIGHT's goals is to accelerate student mobility and promote the acquisition of international learning experiences. To support this, the University of Tartu has concluded, besides subject-specific student exchange agreements, an Erasmus+ cooperation agreement, which allows students, generally regardless of their curriculum, to apply for one-semester studies at the network’s partner universities. In addition to the traditional student exchange, ENLIGHT offers the opportunity to participate in short-term courses and enrich your studies with online courses.

The student mobility within ENLIGHT network is carried out under Erasmus+ Programme which enables UT students to:

In addition to student mobility cooperation that involves the entire university and network, several UT institutes are doing speciality-based Erasmus+ cooperation with ENLIGHT partner universities. For student mobility destinations, search the SoleMove study system.

Application for semester studies and BIP courses is done as a public competition within the UT, and the final decision is up to the partner university.

ENLIGHT partners invite students (including doctoral students) to participate in:

  • Virtual courses
  • Summer schools/winter schools
  • Conferences

Information on virtual and other non-Erasmus courses is delivered via UT students newsletter, study-field based mailing lists and is available on the website of ENLIGHT network. Registration is mostly open via the organizing university and the UT will not mediate funding. Students should discuss the requirements for the recognition of courses/traineeship abroad with their institute's adviser before applying for the course. Information on applying for the courses to be recognized is available here (see the Study Plan section).
